The birth of a new blog!

The Moonowlithic Visions blogspot has been all about moonfolk, and even though this is what I do a lot, I also have other themes, other visions, fantasies and work to share and post.

But to post it here would make Moonowlithic Visions less Moonowlithic and more random visions. Which would be sad, it is fun to see how the Moonowlithic theme evolves on its own blog. To have nude studies, different themes, sketches etc would distract from that.

Thus I have created a new blog, no fear, Moonowlithic Visions will be continued to be updated. And the more I do other themes and things, the more I come back to this theme.

Sometimes there will be a cross-post, like this:

Which I will post on both, however I am even thinking of posting Moonowlith only work on both as well. Keeping this exclusively Moonowlith while making the other blog all encompassing.

Feel free to visit my blog and enjoy the complete world of visions, ideas and work;

Finally, a new post.

I've been quiet lately, I know this.
Expositions do drain energy but also time.
So some other things needed attention.

Also I have been experimenting with digital.
A lot of nude/experimental sketching done, not connected to the Moonowlith.
Yet after a while an alien portrait appeared. Guess I am not done with that part of my world..

I've been pondering on the question, or well options;

To make a new blog(s) containing the random workings, exercises, modelsketch/paintings, nsfw, atlantean, lunatics etc. Or to use this blog for that content as well..

I'll ponder a bit more, but feel free to share your thoughts.
You may always respond on my blog, which I will get a notice of in my main mail account.
You can also respond on my facebook yet, that one is linked to my spam account. I mean, facebook equals spam most of the time. But I will regularly check it anyway.

Scripture, the Genesis of Moonowlith

It can now be read/bought at my exposition. It has been on display since the 13th and will be until the 27th.

Yes, the artist speaks was a questionable success. There weren't many who had questions which limited my time to almost 2 minutes.

Yet I did work on a new print for the scripture I graduated with. It will be limited to 13 plus 1 read/exposition/artist version. And it describes in my own handwriting, which can be hard to decipher, how I came to my theme of Moonowliths. It is the actual description of the genesis of the moonowlithic visions.

During the exposition you are free to browse through it and can also order/ask for a print of your own.

Yes I am quite late, 11 days to be exact to post this. I am sorry for this. Meanwhile I've been trying Krita, my bamboo tablet as well as my new pencils. I will show some off soon enough. :)

Where do I go? D:

Been quite busy with the exposition, getting some old machine to work to display a movie a collegue who also has work in the exposition has made for us.
Thing is now running Linux, it just needs an old usb I probably have laying around somewhere here.
If the person who would supply the usb isn't quicker.

Today I delivered the machine, sadly nothing to display yet since no usb=no movie.
Yes, it doesn't even have a harddisk, so don't bother stealing a machine that probably won't even be able to play youtube. 😋

Either way! I did notice our galery is not as easy to spot, thus I made some pictures, that if you plan on going, you know where to go.

Also, if you are going, please do tell so I can be there for you.

And yes, I did sketch a lot,
also installed my old Bamboo tablet.

Trying out Krita but haven't gotten further then some unclear lines and circles..

Exposition Los, Losser, Lost now open.

Yes finally, after two days since the opening I post a blog about it.

Sadly photography doesn't really do some of my work good, trust me, it looks better when you are there physically. Example:

You still have 20 days to visit the exposition, it is a very nice mixture of work.
No matter if you like more figurative art or like it totally abstract. No matter if you like it all serious or rather have art with a bit of comedy in it. Also, the coffee isn't that bad for 50 eurocents.

Also I'll make some more pictures later this week. The exposition was a little crowded at the opening.

Prexpo: Expositie Los Losser Lost,

These days before the exposition were pretty busy.
Yet I managed to frame and pack all nicely in these bags and bring them to The Hague.

Quite a walk from The Hague Central Station with 26 paintings, especially the framed ones.
But it was a nice walk.

When I arrived I unpacked them, sadly I couldn't hang them in my own composition on the walls, but I had faith they would do it well.

But yes, what do you see there..

NO COLOUR!?

Nope, while trying to find frames to fit, I found these two frames, tried them out on the two electromancers on vellum and well. It fit, does mean I have to either make two more or try out my plan on different ones.

Of course I have thought long and hard on whether to give them colour or not. But felt they did not quite needed the extra layer anyway. And to be able to show them off at the exposition was a chance I just couldn't let slip. So there they are, with the rest.

And good news! All my paintings are put on display, all 26 of them, or 35 if you count every individual painting (some I have worked into a composition within the frame). So I cannot wait to see the exposition for themselves. All I know is that we, (or at least I) have to wait till the unveiling the 5th of August.

Again the invitation:

Los Losser Lost and paintprogress of the trygometric cycles

It has been silent on the blog, yet a lot has happened.
Mostly preparation and  such for the exposition. The opening will be less then a week from now.
And yes, you are all invited if you would like to see my work or that of my former classmates.

And of course, I have also worked on some paintings. Luckily I could apply a ground layer and base colour on the panels before I went to Spain. Thus when I arrived home I could start painting.

As you see, I have now arrived at the 'grey' or dead layer.

And of course, I worked on my website, still visible at https://kyoffeh.wixsite.com/sethsryt
Also the small vellum paintings are dry enough to apply the colour layer on it. Which will be an exciting experimental process.

To apply a line on prepared MDF

It has been a while, been to Spain for 8 days.
Thus progress has been slow, or so it seemed..

Yet I have been tinkering around with a website,
this free webservice called wix.
This is my website, it will be updated but feel free to comment on it here,
give me constructive criticism or tips on how to make it better. :)
Or what you do like. Go play around with it!

https://kyoffeh.wixsite.com/sethsryt

Also when I arrived home I have been sketching and creating lineart for the next few works.
And designing a method to get my primary sketch onto the MDF panel. Without losing the good lines yet also keeping freedom to create more powerful lines as well as freedom to paint without too much constraints.
Basically to create guidelines.

Yes on the first I forgot the arm. On the last one I forgot a line for the bewb. But I did correct this afterwards. :)

Whoops the final version of the horizontal prepped one had more missing. Here the correct version:

Slow progress

Progress has been slow, there was this thing of needing selfies of me being at work.
Yet I am horrible at selfies.

Either way, did finish these so far. Last image I figured needs a little more black, which I was unable to apply in one go.
Interesting detail about these is that if light comes from the back, favourably just a little, the white will actually shine through.
The idea is to make another layer, this time with colour to create a shine through effect, almost like stained glass, yet it also refers to the tedious process of glazed paintings.
As well as in digital art, they also work in layers and often use a layer of ontop of another.

Quite small, yet packed with references to old and new. :)
And that is only the technique..

300 views, yay, also, still working

Last days I've been struggling with getting that second vellum painting flat.
Which made it just more wrinkly, I'm suspecting that acrylics and vellum just aren't made for each other..

On the other hand, started a oil painting on vellum and that worked out well.
Though it still somewhat warps.. I have great plans for vellum, but I first need to get it to not warp or find another way to work with it..

Either way, last few days I've been busy preparing MDF boards for painting the triangular paintings I've sketched out before. The Trygometric Cycle aka the Creation of a Moonowlith seen from an Levitating Observatory Ship, Triangular. LOST?
Might do some grayscale painting of it later..

On the verge of success and failure

And yes that title is just how I feel right now.

The small painting worked out well, the small brushes worked wonders on the tiny details.
Also I forgot to scan the paintline progress, though, might have scanned it somewhere, no idea..
Anyway that worked out well but..

The parchment or vellum was a whole different story.
Vellum doesn't mind oils, but it apparently hates acrylics, probably due to the water.
And with hate I mean that it will curl up, not even complaining about the irregular surface acrylic will create. Which was surprising, a learning experience yet also frustrating.

Got to the darks tho, now it is under the scanner for two reasons.
First it is to get the vellum flat again, and second of course also to scan for your viewing pleasure.

So that will take some time considering if Vellum will serve my needs.

At least for oilpainting it appeared alright..

Vellum portrait of a Electromancer

Been some time since I posted last.
Been scanning my sketchbook since I recently filled it up.

I did prepare some sketches for painting though, one new sketch and another of which the design is old and will be the basis for a new idea on painting in layers. Sort of a try out.
When I finish scanning I'll probably put another page or two from my sketchbook online.

This must be the 13th blogpost right? A glimpse inside my sketchbook.

It has been a slow last few days sadly.
A lot more was planned.

On a more positive, I found an A3 printer/scanner.
This is a great asset, allows me to scan bigger paintings,
print on a larger format but most importantly.

It allows me to scan my sketchbooks two pages at a time.
Which halves the time it takes to scan a filled out sketchbook,
and scanning a sketchbook takes an awful lot of time.

But sketches being so valuable to me, you cannot put all eggs in one basket.

This is actually where the magic happens,
so I'll give you a glimpse inside one.

Quite recent, you probably recognise some paintings and you will probably notice in the future that some more are based on these two pages.

So enjoy.

Project Moonowlith, first oil layer

And it isn't melting or destroying the vellum. Great.

Oddly my old oil paint inside my terpetine container I clean my brushes with and often use the leftovers for the sketching changed into a gooey substance.

Whoever knows what infernal chemical process has my leftover paint changed into inedible goo.
Do please tell me. Might try to paint with it..
